Kammerphilharmonie Europa is a dynamic, independent chamber orchestra founded in 2006 by Leonid Tritus, bringing together talented young musicians from across Europe for high-level classical performances and extensive international tours including a visit to the UK and Wallingford which we are very excited to host!

They are opening our season with a programme of popular classics for strings with the additional rarity of the F major Concerto for Trumpet and String Orchestra by the Nineteenth Century Italian composer Amilcare Ponchielli, best known for his opera La Gioconda. They begin with a concerto from Corelli’s epoch-making publication of 1714, which set the style of string writing for a generation, and via J.S. Bach and some Romantic favourites, end with one of the divertimenti that Mozart composed to charm dinner guests at the court of the Archbishop of Salzburg, music that has been delighting audiences ever since.

Irina Knauer, a graduate of the Minsk and St. Petersburg Conservatoires, is the leader of KPE and soloist in the Bach Concerto. Cyrill Gussaroff, also a graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatoire, is the soloist in the Ponchielli Concerto.
