We are delighted to welcome the return of pianist Anita D’Attellis, who in addition to a flourishing performing and teaching career, is a familiar face at our concerts and répétiteur to Benson Choral Society. She brings a colleague from Eton College, fellow concert artist Mina Miletic to perform a programme of piano duets.
The piano duet medium is often overlooked, but its original repertoire contains masterpieces that transcend domestic associations. The programme is bookended by two powerful, late works by Schubert. The remainder of the programme presents three well-loved works by French composers. All evoke childhood, and their apparent simplicity belies much skilful and elegant craft. Although better known in their later orchestral guise, these three works are here presented in their original form.
